This is how A Gift Personalized’s gambling editorial team creates, reviews, and updates the content you read on our site. We’re publishing this in detail because most affiliate sites don’t, and we think the absence of an editorial policy tells you everything about the quality of the recommendations.
What We Cover
We publish reviews, comparisons, and explainers about online casinos, sportsbooks, and gambling regulation in four markets: the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. Within those markets, we cover both fully regulated operators and the international sites that players in restricted regions still use.
We don’t cover lottery, bingo halls, retail betting, daily fantasy sports, or skill-based gaming unless it directly intersects with online casino content. Our editors work in their assigned markets only. You won’t find Callum writing about US sweepstakes laws or Jordan reviewing UKGC operators, because expertise doesn’t transfer across regulatory systems as neatly as content marketers pretend.
How A Review Gets Made
Every casino review on this site goes through the same process before it’s published. There are no exceptions for sponsored content, and we don’t have a separate “express review” track for operators with bigger affiliate budgets.
-
Initial Screening
Before we commit time to a full review, we verify the operator’s licensing claim against the actual regulator’s database, check ownership transparency, and look at six months of player complaints across forums, Trustpilot, and review aggregators. Sites that fail this stage don’t get a review.
-
Account Creation and Verification
The reviewer signs up using real personal information and submits standard KYC documents to test the verification process. We document how long it takes, what’s required, and whether anything feels excessive or unusual.
-
Real Money Deposit
We deposit our own funds, typically between $50 and $200 depending on minimum requirements. We test multiple payment methods where the operator supports them, including any crypto options that are common in the relevant market.
-
Gameplay Testing
The reviewer plays through bonus terms (when applicable), tries games across multiple categories, and tests live dealer rooms during peak and off-peak hours. We note loading times, software stability, and whether advertised game counts match reality.
-
Withdrawal Testing
This is where most reviews fall apart and ours doesn’t. We submit a withdrawal request and time it from submission to funds landing in our account. We document any verification holds, why they happened, and how customer support responded. No casino gets a positive payout-speed rating from us without a tested withdrawal.
-
Terms and Conditions Read
The reviewer reads the full T&Cs, bonus terms, withdrawal policy, and dispute resolution process. We flag clauses that are unusually restrictive, contradict marketing claims, or hide significant fees. This typically takes two to three hours per casino.
-
Editor Review and Fact-Check
Before publication, every review is read by a second editor (usually the regional lead for that market). They verify factual claims, check whether scores match the documented evidence, and flag anything that reads like marketing rather than analysis. About a quarter of drafts get sent back for revision.
-
Publication and Periodic Re-Review
Reviews are dated when published and re-tested every six months minimum, or sooner if the operator changes ownership, licensing, or significant terms. Outdated reviews are clearly flagged with a re-review date or pulled entirely.
Editorial Standards
These are the rules every writer on the team agrees to before publishing a single article. They’re enforced by the regional editors and reviewed quarterly.
What We Will Not Do
- We will not give a positive rating to any casino we haven’t personally tested with real money
- We will not change a published rating in exchange for higher affiliate commission, exclusive bonuses, or any other incentive from the operator
- We will not omit known negative information about an operator from a review, even when that operator is a partner
- We will not use AI tools to generate review content. Research assistance and grammar checking are fine. Replacing editorial judgment is not
- We will not republish content from other gambling sites or use spun versions of our own older reviews
- We will not recommend offshore casinos to players in regulated markets without clearly explaining the trade-offs they’re accepting
- We will not promote any casino to a reader who has indicated they’ve used GamStop or any equivalent self-exclusion tool
Sources and Verification
When we make claims about licensing, regulation, payment processing times, or bonus terms, we link directly to the source: the regulator’s database, the operator’s terms page, official government documents, or our own tested screenshots. We don’t rely on industry press releases, operator marketing copy, or claims from other affiliate sites.
For statistics about gambling participation, problem gambling rates, or regulatory changes, we cite the original research. UK figures come from the UK Gambling Commission’s official reports. US data comes from state gaming control boards and the American Gaming Association. Canadian data comes from AGCO and provincial regulators. Australian data comes from the Australian Communications and Media Authority and state gambling regulators.
If a source isn’t publicly verifiable, we don’t use the claim.
Who Writes Our Content
Every article on this site has a named author with a photograph, biography, and verifiable industry background. We do not publish under generic bylines like “Editorial Team” or “AGP Staff” except for occasional company announcements.
Our four regional experts are introduced on our team page, and each one has a profile listing every article they’ve written. If you have a question about a specific review, you can contact the writer directly through their profile.
We do not currently accept guest contributions or freelance pitches. All content is produced in-house by editors who’ve passed our internal hiring process, which includes a paid trial review and verified industry references.
How We Make Money
Affiliate Disclosure
A Gift Personalized’s gambling section is funded primarily through affiliate commissions. When a reader clicks through to a recommended casino and signs up, we may receive a one-time payment or a percentage of the operator’s revenue from that player. This is the standard model for gambling review sites and it’s how we pay our editorial team.
This relationship does not influence our reviews or rankings. We have removed casinos from our recommended lists despite active affiliate partnerships when their service quality dropped, their licensing changed, or player complaints accumulated. We have also covered operators we don’t have affiliate relationships with when they’re significant to the markets we cover.
Every review and comparison page includes a disclosure noting that we may earn commission from the operators listed. We don’t hide this relationship and we don’t think it should be hidden.
Updates and Versioning
The gambling industry changes constantly. New regulations are introduced, operators change ownership, licensing arrangements shift, and bonus terms get rewritten. We treat our content as living documents rather than one-time publications.
Each review carries a “last updated” date that reflects the most recent factual review of the content, not just minor edits. When we substantially change a rating, expand a section, or correct an error, we note what changed and when. Major changes to long-form guides include a change log at the bottom of the page.
Corrections Policy
If We Get Something Wrong
We make mistakes. When a reader, operator, or regulator points out a factual error in our content, we verify the claim and correct it within 48 hours of confirmation. Significant corrections include a note at the top of the article explaining what was changed and when. We don’t silently edit articles to hide errors.
To report an error, email [email protected] with a link to the article and a brief explanation of what’s incorrect.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial team reports to the AGP editorial director and operates independently of the business development team that manages affiliate relationships. Operators do not see reviews before they’re published, do not have approval over content, and do not receive advance notice of negative coverage. This is a non-negotiable structural separation.
When operators have requested removal of negative information, we have declined. When operators have offered exclusive bonuses or higher commissions in exchange for changed coverage, we have declined those too. We mention this not because we want credit for it, but because it sets the standard that should be assumed of any site offering you advice.
Reader Feedback
If you’ve had a different experience at a casino we’ve reviewed, we want to know. Reader reports inform our re-review process, and patterns of complaints often surface issues that aren’t visible during a single round of testing. Your feedback doesn’t directly change a published rating, but it does shape what we look at when we re-test the operator.
You can report your experience through the contact page or directly to the writer of the review through their author profile.
